New Beginnings

In June 2011, I started a personal Tumblr in my final year of high school to express myself creatively. I was bored of reblogging photos from influencers when I knew that deep down, I could be one too. Four years later, after countless posts, over-edited photos, and collaborations with phenomenal brands, I am so grateful to be recognized as one.

However, I am no longer in denial that Tumble was limiting my creative freedom and hindering me from launching a full-time career in blogging. I could write about why Tumble was limiting me in extensive detail, but I know it’s not the time.

Tumblr changed my life and gave me a passion and purpose. Every morning, I would wake up knowing that such a beautiful group of people were interested in what I did and I was so invested in them. They gave me a voice, and I owe them a large chunk of my heart.

The meaning of life, from my perspective, has a lot to do with my belief in the law of attraction. If you have the courage to ask for what you want intelligently – love, wealth, creativity, generosity, and more – you are more likely to receive it once you have projected those thoughts into the universe. I have been asking the universe to recognize me as a content creator and performer for years. Which makes re-launching Laurel Musical on WordPress an achievement in itself.

To new beginnings!

How do you want your 2017 to begin?

Let me know.

  1. Congratulations on your re-launch, Laurel! Indeed, Tumblr was also limiting me when it comes to expressing more of myself so I moved to Blogger which went great and now, I’m blogging in WordPress. I love the benefits I’m experiencing from it even though I’m still new with all the things WP can offer to me. Haha! Anyway, my site is currently can’t be reached, same with other bloggers, maybe because of our host so if you couldn’t view it at the moment, I apologize in advance. Btw, I’m one of your Tumblr followers. I can still remember you followed me first and I was so happy to be recognized by you. 🙂

    1. Thank you Augustin! I agree that WordPress is arguably the best blogging platform in order to be taken seriously. However, Tumblr will still have a place in my heart and I will still be using it for blog updates.

I’m so flattered that you remembered when I followed you. I’m so lucky to have gained you as a friend.

  2. Congrats on your big move! I’m really curious about how Tumblr limited your creative freedom. I blog on Tumblr and I can’t help feeling like that sometimes. It would be nice to get input from someone who felt (and feels) the same.

Wishing you all the best on your blogging journey!

    1. Thank you Roanne! It was a difficult worthwhile decision. Tumblr had a lot of issues when it came to monetization, search engine optimization, permalinks, and design limitations. When switching to WordPress it was exciting and overwhelming to see how much control you have over your blog.

Can’t wait to keep in touch!
