Dear Mom,
On this special day, you deserve more than a letter – you deserve a ten book series filled with the adventures and memories we’ve shared. You deserve to know how those memories and moments have shaped me into the person I am today.
The truth is Mom, I wouldn’t be able to write you ten books.
I’m struggling to even finish this letter.
I cannot put into words how much you mean to me.
You are my best friend, my role model, my teacher outside of school.
You have guided me through life gently holding my hand, even when I’ve told you to let go.
You are passionate, caring, and unapologetically yourself.
You embarrass yourself with such grace and I hope someday that I’ll be able to laugh at myself the way you do.
Because your laugh is home.
You are home.
Thank you for the sacrifices you’ve made, the invitations you’ve turned down, and the schedules you’ve shifted to be here.
Thank you for the unconditional love, the support, and the wisdom.
Thank you for being there when I needed you most, which feels like all the time.
When I was younger, I always looked at you with such wonder and to this day I still do.
You deserve this letter because sometimes I question, what did I do, to deserve being raised by you.
Happy Mother’s Day!
Love you always.
This is so beautifully written Laurel!
Thank you so much Jessica!
